How Men Can Avoid Ingrown Hairs After Shaving

Many men look in the mirror after shaving and see small bumps on their cheeks and neck. These blemishes are not only unpleasant to look at but also can be irritating to the touch. These ingrown hairs or razor bumps are the source of much rage with men when they are trying to look their best. But how can ingrown hairs be avoided? Well short of laser hair removal, below are some great tricks to help battle that burn.

As the name suggests, ingrown hairs occur when the hair follicle is cut leaving a sharp edge behind. This sharp edge curls back as it grows, returning into the same hair follicle, resulting in itchiness and redness. Sometimes, the colour of the hair can be seen through the skin, adding an extra annoying element.

Here are a few tips when shaving to avoid ingrown hairs:

1. Shave in the same direction that your hair grows. Just like cutting a steak, go with the grain.

2. Always use a clean, new razor. Yes, it is cheaper and easier to use your disposable blade five to ten times. But a jagged blade will further create the sharp edges to your beard follicles.

3. Wash your face thoroughly with hot water. This will open your pores and allow the hair follicles to come out more naturally, and will also help exfoliate your skin. Plus, it is a much more pleasant way to shave!

4. Apply a warm cloth to your face for a few minutes. This will soften your skin and, once again, open your pores.

5. Invest in decent shaving equipment. If ingrown hairs are common, maybe your disposable razor just isn’t sensitive enough for your skin. A decent razor could be the difference between a clean, blemish free face and one marred by ingrown hairs.

6. Try shaving in the shower. It works for women! The constant flow of warm water, and the fact that your skin is as clean as it can be when you’re in the shower, will help avoid the unsightly ingrown hairs.

Anti Wrinkle Cream For Men: 5 Tips For Looking Younger

Skin care and anti-wrinkle creams are usually associated with middle-aged women who try to look a few years younger than they appear. But ever increasingly, men are becoming more and more interested in their physical appearance and specifically the appearance of their skin.

Luckily for these men, there are several products that will help you look and feel younger; most notable of these products is anti-wrinkle cream.

There are plenty of companies that offer anti-wrinkle creams. Follow these steps for effective uses and promising results.

1) The ingredients in anti-wrinkle creams can often produce the opposite effects desired. When choosing a cream, read the ingredients. Ensure that anti-oxidants, vitamins, Coenzyme Q10, and other natural ingredients are present. These natural ingredients will not damage the skin in the long term like other chemical ingredients.

2) Ensure that the cream can be used on any type of skin. If the cream irritates certain skin types, the odds are the cream has many unnatural ingredients.

3) Synthetic ingredients must be avoided. These ingredients will surely dry out the skin creating adverse effects.

4) Anti-wrinkle creams should target the three main causes of aging: lower levels of hyaluronic acid, loss of collagen and elastin, and finally oxidation. Check the labels and verify that the cream addresses these areas.

5) Anti-oxidants help moisturize and rejuvenate your skin, making you feel and look younger.

Of course, anti-wrinkle creams will not perform miracles. Certain lifestyle changes are needed in order to receive the desired effects of an anti-wrinkle cream, such as quitting smoking, drinking less alcohol, and getting more sleep. All three of these acts can cause your skin to look older than it actually is. Drink more water and try to live a healthier life.

If you choose to use an anti-wrinkle cream, follow these steps to ensure the desired effects. I suggest consulting a dermatologist, or even your family doctor to find what other options are available to you.
